Problems with Versions

  1. Currently, models with many versions, like the Dolls Likness by EDG, are difficult to navigate between versions. This is particularly problematic for such models because a newer version is not a replacement for the older versions. Another example is the model I created: Dynamic Shots: Collection of 60 Effects with 60 versions, which is very hard to navigate between versions. I had to add links to all versions in the description of the model to assist users in navigating.

  2. When editing the details of a version, the UI keeps jumping to the left version after every edit. It's very annoying having to scroll back each time when there are many versions.

  3. For fast access between versions, perhaps a dropdown menu could be added to display all versions, allowing for easy scrolling between them. Another option could be to have a smart search with suggestions, although I'm not sure how convenient that would be. Or maybe something else, but users need a faster way to access versions.

  4. When opening a link to a specific version, the versions bar doesn't scroll to the specific version; it stays on the left side, which makes it harder to navigate between models. For example, with 09 Astrophotography, notice that the version in the versions bar is not showing the version you have opened.

  5. I liked the initial design Civitai had, with the versions arranged vertically in the column on the left. I felt the versions were more accessible. Ideally, I would like to have the option to choose between displaying versions in a row, as it is now, or in a column, as they initially were.

  6. Allowing a better coexistence between versions would be nice. A way to switch between showing a gallery for a specific version and showing a gallery of all versions, with some default behavior that the creator can choose, would be great.

  7. Currently, if a user follows a creator, they don't receive notifications about version updates, which doesn't make sense. If I follow a creator with hundreds of models, I wouldn't go and subscribe to all of them. This situation is detrimental for both followers and the creator. When a user follows a creator, you could ask for their preference regarding version updates, but by default, the follower should receive all notifications from the creator's versions.

  8. We discussed a while back the possibility of easily splitting versions into separate models and a way to merge models. It would be nice to have this feature to allow more control for creators to experiment with it.
